1994 Dr T Land Cruiser, 1FZ with 230,000 miles. I get 12 mpg no matter what. Uphill, downhill, headwind, tailwind, loaded, unloaded. I guess I should be happy it doesn't get worse, but I wouldn't hate it if it occasionally got better.
Running the engine to use the AC at night will not drain the battery...
As long as your AC and cooling system are in good working order, you should have no issues. Make sure you consider the second and third order effects though, like exhaust (carbon monoxide) coming into the cab, and the...
I have this exact press, it lasted through many long trips in Afghanistan, and then a few years here in the states, it finally came apart at the threads on the press rod, and I gave it up. I have a Stanley now.
I use a V60 every single day at home. Its just the best simple coffee maker there...
This is where I'm at too, I will lease my wife a nice 4Runner Pro, it has all the look she wants, and honestly, she'll drive it off road 5 times in the period we have it. This is why she wont let me drive it. :smilingimp:
My experience with Apple has been similar, one time since I've owned them my iPhone has told me it was overheated and needed to cool down, and that was laying in the grass on a hot Texas summer day.
I use mine in a military environment so I'm not buying the kid gloves treatment thing, however...
I have a very similar system for lightweight sleeping, I use the Q-Core SL, and a good bag, however I haven't yet tried the cot. Its on list to pick up this year. The Q-Core is the best inflatable mat on the market period.
I spent the weekend rehabbing various parts of my Cruiser, I replaced some exhaust gaskets (talk about a difference, jeez) and replaced almost every component and seal in my AC system minus the compressor. The AC work was mostly preventative in nature, it gets damned hot here in the summer time...
I agree knives are tools. They should be strong, keep an edge, and serve multiple purposes. I always cringe when I see people opening cans with 200.00 Benchmades and the like. I have a few, and I plan to get a few more, but I keep a morakniv handy.
I love Mister VirtuoVice for sharpening...
I MIGHT be able to do this, Ive got some looming maintenance on the rig that needs doing, and if I get it done to the point Im satisfied, I'll be your huckleberry. More to follow...
There is a gargantuan thread over on Ih8mud about monstaliner, and my google searches have turned up a few on other forums. Personally, I have a friend with his truck monstalined and the results were fantastic, mine is in the chute for it in the spring. I'll dig up the mud link and post it here...
There is nothing at all wrong with Bolivar, we love it, as much for its accessibility as for its features. If youre going at any off season time, it can feel as remote as SPI.
If you go all the way down to Crystal Beach (Which I recommend) beach camping and fires are fine.

My trucks finish took a noticeable downturn after that week at SPI I mentioned earlier. The hood, and front fenders look especially bad, from the salt air blowing unabated for 5 days.
