I try to have as many events as I can. We did a cape lookout trip back in April, we have a rally in uwharrie NF starting late August. I will be posting up another cape lookout trip for September, and we have just started a monthly coffee and rigs. Watch the calendar!
I can't think of a pro / con for what side unless you plan on RTT or shower, etc. Also, is there an easier side to get to storage boxes or other rack mount stuff? Lighting? Cook area coverage?
Other than that, I feel it's just a preference thing.

Yea, those can be tough. My wife and I did a 12 hr run to UP, MI last fall for the Wounded Hero's run.
I'd do it again. We made a trip of it by spending 2 days running around the KY DBBB on the way. We're planning more of that type of trip on the way to Colorado this fall.
I've tried to go up Old House Gap Rd several times, but it's always gated on Mortimer end. The other end is open out of Linville, but the "Trout Unlimited" group has petitioned Grandfather district Ranger to close it because "off-roaders" were contaminating the stream for fishing. Never mind...
We ran all through Cataloochee area yesterday. I am just heading back to Burnsville, leaving camp on Shad Rd - lots of mud. Old Buzzard Roost Rd was fun, pretty good climb in deep ruts.
