I have a set of these in red. I don't find that they put out enough lighting to do much of anything. I just chalked them up to be accent lights. Maybe it's the red tint I bought them in. I mainly depend on my homemade USB-powered LED light strip with magnetic backing.
I dial back the camping during the summer months, but when I do I head for higher elevation. In the forested areas, it's just finding some shaded area for the tent and sleeping with the rain fly off.
I'm planning to try hammock camping this summer though. I've got the ENO OneLink system to...
For what I intended to do with my 4R, I went storage first. T4r.org is a great site to see what's out there and what others are doing with their 4Rs. I started with storage panels fitted into the side windows in the cargo area, then I went with a full roof rack. Sprinkled in between were other...
Do you all recommend an adapter hose to be able to use a 20 lb LP tank with the Coleman single burner? Something like this...
I have a 20 lb tank at home which doesn't see any use since I prefer charcoal grilling. I don't see lugging it around when we camp so I'll probably want to pick up a 5...
Another vote for a plastic box. If you know the Daiso stores, it's kind of a nicer discount store originating from Japan. Anyway, they have some pretty sturdy plastic boxes that range between $4 and $6. I picked up about a half dozen of them for utensils, paper towels, dry foods/snacks, etc...
Though the pinstripes on mine aren't quite as bad as what you have pictured, I left them. Only time I see them is when I wash the truck :D and I don't like looking at them.
I think we both have the same color 4R; only wished I had gone with a lighter color (if one in Quicksand had been...
I've read it multiple times, not only on OB but other articles and videos: "buy quality cast iron". I have a number of Lodge cast iron cookware. I don't know any pans though. I've got a large 16 or 18" round flat top which I've used in the oven for pizza, and a grill top with the reversible...
I've only recently learned about this product myself, but it's called permethrin. I read that unlike some Picaridin and DEET, Permethrin is an insecticide so it'll actually deter and kill. I plan to test it out myself in the spring once the bugs start to run rampant. The videos I've seen use...
So much good advice. I'll just add that I have a Rumpl down blanket I use around camp to stay off the cold. At bed time, I fold it over once, tuck it into my 23 degree bag. I do the base layers, fleece apparel, wool socks, etc etc etc but once I started using the Rumpl in the sleeping bag, no...
I would be interested for sure. I really like the dynamic and flow of your videos. I don't plan on buying any new equipment so I'll rely on a couple of GoPros I already own, but the software side is a total black box to me.
@nickburt I'm hoping you can offer some advice to a cast iron novice. I only own two pieces of cast iron cookware; one I just received yesterday. It's a Lodge grill / griddle flat top. I took it for a "test drive" yesterday evening with some steak strips on the grill side over charcoal. The...
Agreed, some of the components on this thing is seriously not geared towards offroading but it IS a concept vehicle. I found it more interesting that Toyota had integrated all these overlanding-and-offroad-friendly details like the lighting, camera, and semi-enclosed roof rack. I'm curious if...
