We use old railbeds to get around on from time to time. I'd say it's important to get real local input, as railbed right of ways can change, fences go up, bridges get removed, vehicle access can be limited on some rail to trail type railbeds, etc. Here in BC, I belong to a couple FB groups that...

I remember planning a trip to Colorado to visit friends, go to Ouray, etc. I really had no ideas where it was, but figured "well, they say it's in the West ..... and I live on the West coast of BC, so how far can it be?" 2500km later we ended up in Colorado.

When we had a rooftop tent our dogs refused to sleep in the Xterra. I bought a simple long carpet runner from the hardware store, laid it on the hood, and up the windshield and onto the roof. One dog jumps up onto the hood (I would lift the older other one) and they had no problems just waling...

I bought a carpet runner and laid it up the hood and glass, worked like a charm. It had a rubberized backing and didn't slip at all, even on the windshield.

Leavenworth and Winthrop in Washington are really nice places ot stop and wander aroubnd. The North Cascades Hwy from Winthrop over to the PMW is an epic drive. I'm a real fan of the central Oregon Coast (Newport area, Hwy 101, and the amazing beaches). My Wife and i try to visit and camp there...
