Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.
Having once lived through an To-AWS migration as a software developer, you have my utmost sympathy. Hopefully you won't have to deal with Kubernetes and containers as well. That was enough to make me hate a job I'd loved for over 20 years.
As a follow-up to last year's trip to the Arctic Ocean via western Canada, this year we explored the Eastern portion (Newfoundland and Labrador). We couldn't push as far north as we would have liked as there are no roads or trails of any kind, but the scenery was pretty awesome nonetheless.
I’ve been using a drone to supplement my overlanding photography over the past few years, and while I knew there were various pitfalls one could encounter when using a drone to get a different (and sometimes spectacular) perspective of various trails, I never saw this coming…
Please excuse...
El-Dracho, it was an inflatable kayak that we planned to use at Tuktoyuktuk to see Pingo Canadian Landmark. Unfortunately, the day we were there the winds were pretty strong and we didn’t feel it was safe to take it out. My significant other later got to use it in Banff National Park, so she was...
I finally got around to taking a longish (11,000 miles) road trip that I’d been wanting to do for 40 years: Virginia to the Arctic Ocean and back, with a side trip through Alaska so I could visit my 50th state. Mostly decent weather, better roads than expected, and lots of mosquitoes. :relaxed:
Counting down the weeks until we take №5 from from Virginia to Canada to the Arctic Ocean to Alaska and then back home again. I’ve been wanting to do this trip for me entire life but never had the time until I retired.
What does "overlanding" mean? Why, I think the answer is obvious: it's building a rig that could travel though deepest Africa during the worst of conditions and driving said rig between Holiday Inns as you travel across your chosen continent. That's certainly the way I have always interpreted it.
Recreated the ending scene of Cast Away using DJI Mavic Mini on our recently overland trip from Virginia to Colorado. One of my favorite movies.
I posted a few of these before on this site, so I hope it's not a breach of etiquette to post them again, but here's a few from a cross-country trip we took last September. It was new Mavic Mini and I'd never used a drone before.
@samuraj, My significant other demanded I let her drive down Shafer Trail, so I gave up the diver seat. She cringed and cried the entire way down (and I recorded the whole thing on video). :)
