    Any minimalists?

Well we just returned home from a trip to southern Colorado and the inaugural trip for the WJ. It was a tight fit, but all our items packed in the back hatch for a family of four. We (my wife) definitely overpacked. We had a great time. The weather was perfect. The Jeep averaged 17 mpg going up...

Do you recall the length of those crossbars?

What's up with the Kansas crew keeping it simple? It must just be a common trait out here in the middle. Yeah I started out into traveling in the mountains with a YJ. Cleaned that one up, sold it for close to double what I paid, moved on to a TJ and did the same, just found one with good bones...

Appreciate the insight. This one doesn’t have a hitch but I know what you mean on the fuel tank. It does have the heavier fuel tank skid place at least. I’ve looked at a Wilco tire carrier and a Rigd ultra swing. Both are pretty high dollar. Taking this one out in its maiden voyage in a few...

    Any minimalists?

Anyone out there that have adopted the philosophy of less is more? Man the fully built rigs sure are sweet on the eyes but I guess it doesn’t fit my POU (philosophy of use - side bar: any nutnfancy fans here?) So I did want a reliable and inexpensive rig that’s family friendly-ish for 4. I live...

Finally, it’s mounted, winch is hand-spooled and ready for a tension spooling. Ready for some trips this year now and it’s maiden voyage.

Gaining on it, waiting on a few extra hands to float the bumper for mounting. I tried with just one helper and we found we needed more hands. Not the easiest task, lining up the mounting holes. Winch installed well. I had to clock both the motor and clutch ends of the winch. For anyone...

Winch has arrived in the mail. ARB front bumper is set to arrive next week on a freight truck! Going to get the factory bumper/facia removed this weekend. Also rebuilt the rzeppa cv joint on the front drive shaft at the transfercase.

@MrWilsonWJ really nice build on the rear seat delete. I've got two kiddo's, one pretty fresh and the other just a few years old so I'll be keeping the rear seat in tact but will be building out the rear cargo space. We get about two weeks a year to get out there so it won't be anything too...

Midwest Voyager - 04 WJ Grand Cherokee

Build update: Jeep is back from alignment shop. Caster angle is a bit high and here's why. Lift came with longer LCA's to account for caster loss with lift. I ended up having the shop pull off the 2" spacers so I ended up with right around 2" of lift and am still fitting 245/75 R17's ok. (they...
