Suburban Rebellion - Go Big or Go Home - 2013 Suburban Build

Depending on what you're doing, I would suggest the battery. I've found a lot more utility when out camping in having a battery backup than utility of the bumper. The exception to that rule is that the brush guard on the bumper houses the winch and that's been very useful for moving fallen trees...

Suburban Rebellion - Go Big or Go Home - 2013 Suburban Build

I am just now revisiting this thread but wish I had paid more attention a year ago. There isn't nearly enough Suburban overlanding discussion in the forums (or if there is, I'm missing it). I ended up going with the Fabtech K1019 6" lift because that was the only kit I could find that would...

    What boots do members wear

I use a trail running sneaker: either the La Sportiva Wildcat or the Solomon XA Pro 3D. Both are light, have a support shank, a good toe guard and drain well. That last part has been important because if I'm in the rain or mud my feet are getting wet and having a shoe that drains is essential...

Whoops - I saw the other posts on the lift and tires. No need to respond. Thanks!

Nice looking rig. You can't beat that size. I've got a 2012 Suburban LTZ and have slowly but surely been adding capability. I've been wondering about the lift because I'd like a little more ground clearance and that suggests both a lift and bigger wheels. What did you do about that?

On Call w/ Chris Episode 02: Trauma vs First Aid

Yep - thanks. Got that one. The glasses and lots and lots of latex gloves were the takeaway from that one for me. Good video. Thx.

Outfitting Your Land Yacht -A Guide to Building a Strong, Full Size-¾ -1 Ton, Domestic Rig-

This was a really excellent post. Thank you. I've got a 2012 Chevy Suburban LTZ (1500). It has the G80 (I've been told) rear differential that locks the rear axle as you described above in "Traction Aids" and have been satisfied with its performance in snow and moderate mud. What are your...

On Call w/ Chris Episode 02: Trauma vs First Aid

Hey Chris, thanks for taking the time to make these videos. Keep up the good work! The area of "emergency kits" has been a hobby of mine for a while and I'm constantly tweaking mine based on things I read or see (or experience). I really appreciated the video you had about what's in your...

Overlanding through Public and Private Land

Ah! Ok, thanks for the clarification. I think, after looking at what you wrote the first time, I just missed the double negative. Thanks for the info.

Overlanding through Public and Private Land

Thanks Laud. You commented that getting the permissions wasn't worth it. Why not? Was it simply that the lands, despite being private, just weren't managed?

Event Cancelled - Wheeling and Woodstock - 09/15/2018

I just did the Woodstock Tower trail on Saturday. I really enjoyed it and would definitely go back. I'm interested in the Peter's Mill trail. I got to the Tower and Little Fort from Fort Valley Rd then SR 771 (Boyer Rd). While I wanted to go on Peter's Mill, the rain convinced us to head down...

Overlanding through Public and Private Land

Hello all, I'm new to overlanding and am based out of Northern Virginia so I spend a lot of time in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the George Washington and Thomas Jefferson National Forests, West Virginia, etc. Before I got interested in overlanding, I usually just spent my time on the traditional...
