Heated Camp Shower vs. Powered Cooler/Freezer/Fridge

I've had good luck with the F40C4TMP fridges. 20L might be a bit too small if it's more than you. I can squeeze in 3 days for myself and 2 kids. 2 Adults takes a bit more planning and more stops to keep stocked. For an extra 10 dollars you can get 10 more liters...

Who carrys a firearm with them while camping?

The numbers are all over the place. One organization considers any shooting INVOLVING more than 3 people to be a mass shooting, and "involving" is really used loosely. Oh, you shot yourself in the leg while cleaning your gun because you made poor firearm handling decisions and your family...

Heated Camp Shower vs. Powered Cooler/Freezer/Fridge

If all you're running is a fridge, a 500wH battery should be plenty for one or two nights. If you're charging between sites then even more good to go. DC Blanket? I'd say that's probably not a common consumer of power for most people. You're in SOCAL, so I don't see a big call to run an...

Heated Camp Shower vs. Powered Cooler/Freezer/Fridge

Since we're coming up on spring/summer. Get the fridge now as it will be way more useful in the short term. Then put back money to get your heated shower when cold weather rolls back around later in the year.

    Camp entertainment

Another win for dispersed camping here. No need to be close enough to people to disturb them with it. And I've never had a ranger do more than drive by my dispersed campsite.

    Is Electro-Overlanding a thing yet?

Edison Motors in Canada is basically building what you described. You could technically run the system straight off the diesel generator, but you wouldn't have that surge capacity he talks about in the video. They also have it seutp for more than just a diesel generator. You could set itup...

    Is Electro-Overlanding a thing yet?

I mean diesel-electric locomotives cover 500–700 miles a day on average with 1000 miles a day on the high end. Not sure what you mean by "short range heavy gear".

    US Southwest Anza-Borrego Discovery Trail

I was stationed out in San Diego for a few years and spent all the cooler weather months running around out there all over the place. It's a beautiful area and well worth a trip if you're in the area. Airing down is key, lots of sand. Salton Sea. Stinky. As close as we dared to get via...

    Is Electro-Overlanding a thing yet?

We were discussing the current issue of Fire Apparatus at work. Mainly, acquiring new ones. We're being told any Truck or Quint ordered today has an up to 5 year lead time before we get it. And prices are getting incredibly high for new apparatus. A stripped down bare-bones engine from...

    Storing Portable Power Station

Refer to the manual of your specific unit. Or email their customer service. My DBL1000 basically just lives in my YJ most of the time. But not hooked up to power. My Jackery 300 has been in continous service in my house powering my beer fridge for around 6 months now and gets used every now...

    Dehydrated vs freeze drying foods

Yeah, don't bother. Unless you have no other option due to shelf life of already cooked food. Anything that is dehydrated has to be rehydrated. Which requires............water. So you save a bit of weight on dehydrated food, but you use that weight back up and then some because you have to...

    Newbie in Arkansas

Welcome from East Texas. I spend a ton of time in Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. You're in prime "overlanding" territory. You have easy qucik access to the Ouchita National Forest (1.8 million acres) and the Ozark National Forest (1.2 million acres). Or about 4,700 square miles to explore...

    Diesel heat

They're easy enough to use. When I go out in winter time solo, I hard mount one into my YJ. The unit is in the cab and exhausts externally and on it's lowest hz setting keeps the inside of the Jeep nice and warm, last trip we were down in the 20s and even on it's lowest speed I slept under a...

Need to know how long of a run you plan to do. 4AWG may be overkill if your runs are just a few feet long.
