I was raised on a farm in rural western Washington where our off roading was handled by a 67 Chevy C-10 with "mud tires" and, if it got sloppy, chains. The Astro Van is a sentimental project and while my son off roads with his JK (and is a bit embarrassed that I would even consider going off road with a 2WD rig) I know with care and skill (and a locking rear end) it can keep up in all but the most extreme conditions. As a side note, the British Army Long Range Desert Group (LRDG) rigs in North Africa during WWII were 1940 Chevrolet WB 4x2 30-cwt trucks. Just sayin'
