Vancouver Island Trip - Pacific Rim Park

Planning a trip to camp on Vancouver Island. We will camp at Pacific Rim Park, but any other destinations (dispersed preferred) on Vancouver Island worth visiting?

    Rude Overland Vehicle Etiquette

I was driving my wife’s car (just a normal car) when a modified white 4-runner pulled up behind me and proceeded to tailgate my rear. Already going 75 in the left lane on the freeway and traffic appearing in front of me he decided to flash his high beams at me. I decided to ignore him since...

Where are the 80/20 extrusion experts? Now with build pics

I'm so glad I went with 80/20. ~5 years of overlanding across bumpy and smooth roads, my DIY system is still holding up. Albeit, I need to tighten everything down once a year.

San Francisco to Alaska (and back): Any suggestions for places to see and camp!

Costa, I’ll be in a FJ with a iKamper on top. I upgraded a few years ago for that sole purpose from a soft top RTT because of the pain with opening and closing. With the iKamper I don’t feel like it’s much work. You can check out our setups here on Instagram @exploringtheunpaved. The other car...

San Francisco to Alaska (and back): Any suggestions for places to see and camp!

Thanks! I'm using the The MILEPOST already which is an awesome reference! Thanks for the suggestion on the Sign Post forest and read about it but didn't have it on the map. It is now. I think based on the post here from Costa and others, we decided to drop the Prudhoe Bay route and head to Tuk...

San Francisco to Alaska (and back): Any suggestions for places to see and camp!

We have 6 year old and 1 old dog that is coming along. I'm hoping the dog makes it to our trip as we have had recent visits to the vet. I plotted the Dalton highway for now as it seemed more efficient to go that route but I'm torn between the Dempster vs Dalton. I definitely don't like like...

San Francisco to Alaska (and back): Any suggestions for places to see and camp!

No plans for Dawson City as we plan to enter Alaska more south. We only have 4 weeks for this trip with a 6 year old so I have to make the long pushes worthwhile. Knik glacier by Palmer was one we were thinking of doing. Will off-road to salmon glacier and stay a night or two and go into Hyde as...

    First family trip Sedona

Free Camping in the forest off of Schnebly HIll Road above Sedona. Might be closed half way down during the winter so you have to go around to get to Sedona. If you take a look at the pink jeep tour routes, you can get all the trails they drive.

San Francisco to Alaska (and back): Any suggestions for places to see and camp!

Hi All, Planning a trip for this summer and heading up to Alaska from the Bay Area. Any suggestions of places to see and any good camping spots you know of along the way. The tentative route is as follows : SF --> Whistler BC --> Salmon Glacier --> Fairbanks --> Prudhoe Bay --> Anchorage...

Post pictures of your camp kitchen

The water line is hooked up to 2 modified water bricks that carry a total of 7 gals. The water is drive by a 12V low flow pump with a pressure cut-off (used for RVs). There is a button in the front of the cabinets that turns it off and on. This "running water" addition is probably one of the...

Cascadia Mt. Hood vs IKamper 2.0 vs Roofnest Falcon XL

I should've mentioned I use one of my ratcheting straps (remove the ratchet) and the strap has the hook already and make my own loop. :)

Cascadia Mt. Hood vs IKamper 2.0 vs Roofnest Falcon XL

I use a strap with a hook and attach it to the rack on the hinge side of the tent. Throw the strap over the hardshell after you have initially closed it (~6inches remain opened) and make sure all the tent and the closing lines are tucked in nicely. On the bottom of the strap I made a loop that...

Road Trip Bay Area to Jasper to Banff to Glacier to Yellowstone to Tetons

Hi All, Looking for some good places to see on this route. This trip will be a few days of hotels and mostly camping. I'm camping in some National Parks on some nights since we have never been to these parks, but other nights I am looking for some good dispersed camping spots. I'm in a FJ...

People really suck...father shot killed camping with his two girls.

I feel that in more remote locations this is less likely to happen. As a father of a 2.5 yr old daughter who I take camping by myself sometimes this saddens me so much I had to post it. I never brought my guns when I camped before, but since having my daughter I found myself bringing a gun all...
