So...Brutus 3 got totaled. We are all fine. But I now have a new Land Rover to replace it. Meet Brutus IV. It's a 2014 25th Anniversary Edition LR4. I love this rig and can't wait to begin building it to what I want.

@Ryan Ewbank you are close enough to plan for the 30A Sand Rover Rally in April. Might I also suggest the Gulf Coast Land Rover Club. We ride in Blackwater River State Forest often, not too far from you.

Blackwater is a nice area. Plenty of roads to explore. Nothing too crazy but fun just the same. Just stay on the marked roads and don't get mud on your hood. The officers will say that you are "mudding" and kick you out.

There is a "pay to play" park about 10 minutes from Mobile called Patawomack Off Road Park. It's definitely worth a visit. I usually travel to Florida for trails, Blackwater River State Forest and Eglin Air Force Base. Not aware of any legal trails in Mobile.

@Sunshine State ADVCo. Can I please get a copy of the route that you guys took? I have been to Eglin and Blackwater many times. I actually went to Eglin this past Saturday and had a great time. Thank you for putting a route together.

You shouldn't have any trouble at all. The only thing is the river water level. I would first stop at the Little River Canyon Welcome Center and get a map. You can inquire about the river level there. What buddy in Mobile? I am also in Mobile.

This is a run that I often make when I am in Northeast Alabama. It is near Little River Canyon. It is relatively easy as long as the water level in Little River is low enough to cross. I used Gaia to track it. GPX viewer

My family and I are big fans of indoor plumbing so we usually just get a room for the weekend. I know that Point Washington has a campground but I am not sure what else is available.

Yes there is, although it is not extreme at all. The Sand Rover Rally is right in your neck of the woods. SAVE THE DATE: 30A Sand Rover Rally on April 17-18, 2020 - 30A It's a good time. It is very family friendly as well. My family attends every year.

Sorry I just saw this. I need to fix my notifications. I think the Range Rover Classic, Discovery 1 and 2 are probable the easiest to work on yourself but the LR3 will give fewer problems overall. The parts are relatively easy to get for any of them.
