    Anyone use a ShiftPod?

OK - a year and a half in. Sold the shiftpod. Got a lot of my money back. It's an amazing tent for a base camp, but not doable for Overlanding, IMO. Mainly because of the size and weight. In hindsight I wish I bought a mini - it would have done better. I now have a gazelle and a truck bed tent...

US West Death Valley Western Tour October 22-25th 2020

sounds like a stock Toyota TRD Off Road wouldn't be appropriate for this, right?

    Anyone use a ShiftPod?

OK - so one year in. The shiftpod is amazing for a base camp, but hard to overland with. Mainly due to the size (I have the 8 person one) and weight. I camped all over Utah and California with it last year and this. For basecamp, it's awesome. It withstood high winds and rain. Is warm in the...

    Looking for Trail Around Reno

All: headed to Reno with the family after Thanksgiving. Any good trails there to do some easy to moderate wheeling? Don’t want to scare them too much. Have a stock Tacoma TRD Offroad. Thanks for any pointers.

Let’s be honest; Roof Top Tent- Yay or Nay?

I first got a truck bed tent (Rightline) to see how that would work. I found out two things - it sucks to break camp every day if you need to drive to a trailhead or do four wheeling. Secondly, my wife didn’t like crawling in and out of the back. I went back to a ground tent. If you have a...

    Just bought a SHIFTPOD.

Certainly not as much as a regular tent. They aren't magic - meaning if they are in the direct sunlight they will heat up. They are better insulated and retain heat and cool better. I found that they stay significantly warmer at night (when you want it and especially with a little buddy) and...

In search of: The Best Ground Tents

The king of all ground tents, the Shiftpod2. Just got back from a 10 day trip in with temperatures from 97 degrees to 35 degrees. Thunderstorms in one place, 50 mph gusts in another for two days. It stays warmer and cooler when needed, it keeps dust out... expensive, yes. Cheaper than a RTT by...

    Newbie Question re: base camp

The larger question is what to do with the things left in camp when you’re out. I buy good stuff, coolers, tents, stoves... I only like to buy things once then use them for a long time. Do you worry about someone pillaging your base camp when noone’s home? Am I paranoid or is there a code?

    Newbie Question re: base camp

Sorry for the newbie question. When you set up a base camp in a dispersed camping situation, do you worry about security of your stuff when out hiking and off roading? I don’t worry about things in a developed campground, should I be concerned in a more remote setting? Of course I’d be locking...
