Bill Stephens from Wyoming.
Single owner of a 1978 FJ40 I bought in Cheyenne, WY.

Totaled it out in 1991 when I hit a 1991 F350 dully and totaled it out also.

Would not let it go and drug it to PA and back to Wyoming.

Started working on it and am repowering it with a R2.8 H55F and split transfer case with 3:1 low range.

FJ60 rear axle with a full float disc brake conversion, Big brake kit on the front and high steer.

Just install the FJ105 power steering box.

I am active on I8MUD:

Hi Bill and welcome to Overland Bound!

Greetings from Europe,
Bjoern

I have only made to Frankfurt, Germany and spent the night returning from a work trip in India. A snow storm caused delays on my trip home.

Last year I was in Switzerland for training.

I have worked 2 nuke sites and one fossil site in Spain.

Been to 3 fossil sites in the UK.

Awesome. If you're ever in Europe again, get in touch, maybe we can meet up then.

Hi Bill,

Welcome to the OB community from us all in France.

Hello everyone,

First a thank you to @XC70_OVERLANDER for suggesting joining Overland Bound. Also thanks to @El-Dracho for giving me some guidence here as a new member.

I recently got a Volvo V90 Cross Country, with the intention to do some overlanding. Off course the V90CC isn't a hardcore offroader. I can only afford one car, and that car also has to commute on the highway and be the daily driver for the family. But if there is an oppertunity, I would like to use the lesser used roads.

Back in the day I learned how to off road in the military with mostly Defenders 110 td5 and G-Klase wagons and even the Hagglunds BV206. After that I drove a BMW F650GS Dakar and tried to use it as much as it was designed to do: off road training, allroading events in the Belgium Ardennes and road trips to the Tunisian Sahara and rock desert and to Ukraine as well. I sold this bike back 10 years ago.

Still I've alwas wanted a vehicle capable of doing a little extra in the dirt or snow. And after ten years of only regular street vehicles, I'm excited to go on little adventures with the V90CC and bring my family along.

The V90CC is still stock, so I've purposely been careful not doing anything to wild yet. I've noticed the car is more capable then what I asked of it so far.

With future mods will come more capability and with more capability will come more adventure. It is a slow curve.

Hope I'll be a useful addition to this community!

Hi Eric,

Welcome again to Overland Bound!

I am one of the OB Ambassadors in Europe. You mentioned Thore @XC70_OVERLANDER already. He is our Volvo expert here in Europe and also one of the nearest OB Local Expert to you. Also @NotGumby and @Sven are Local Experts and not far to your location. Please do not hesitate to contact them or me for questions regarding Overland Bound, and the App or information regarding overlanding.

Local information for any of the OB regions can also be found in the Overland Bound by region forum. Each region has its own sub-forum. The Netherlands, for example, belong to the region MidEurope. So, this link leads to the MidEurope subforum. Feel free to introduce yourself to your local area here.

Please take a look at the Rally Points for planned events. There you can filter by region. There are plenty of meetups planned for 2025 for Europe already.

We also do a virtual campfire once a month, there are always members from many regions of Europe. Next one is sheduled for January. This is a relaxed online talk about overlanding, trip plans, gear, everyday life and more with like-minded people. Just join us next time if you like.

If you have any other questions just ask, please. Always happy to help.

Safe travels,

Bjoern

4x4 enthusiast who recently sold 2003 F250 7.3 diesel 4x4 and bought a new f250 Tremor. Nice truck but miss my old Ford...

I do not get to camp, fish, and 4x4 as much as I should lol but some day I will retire and make up for lost time.

I have worked in public safety for nearly 28 years. Patrolled 9800 square miles of lakes, rivers, and mountains. Get to work in the off road areas I love to relax in on my days off. Double blessed and do not take for granted. Much appreciated and thankful.

Hi there,

I‘m Frank from the northern part of Bavaria in Germany. Started overlanding in 2023 with a Road Trip to the Karpats in Romania. 8 days sleeping in my Jeep Wrangler JK, 2013. Had my dog with me, so it was very comfy in the car ;-)

This year I bought a RTT and spent 18 days in Croatia, Albania and Greece.

In 2025 want to buy a new JKU and travel around in the Balkan Region for one month.
