East to West trip along the Magruder Corridor

PapaDave,

Sure wish that I could make this trip. This is the perfect time of the year to do Magruder!

I will just be getting back from a 8-10 day trip with some retired old fart friends in Montana. Maybe next year???

We will need to change the dates back a weekend to Sept 27-29th. If you can make it hope to see you there!

I'm redoing the gpx file, the one uploaded is from last year when we planned on 4 days and going west to east.
This year we'll be doing it East to West. We'll be leaving Friday between 9 and 10 from the Mobil station (we'll finalize the meetup and departure times the week of in a direct message with the attendees)

Is there a preferred comms? I have HAM.
Most have GMRS, I have both. Any chance your HAM is MARS modded? That will allow Rx and Tx on the GMRS frequencies. But we can figure something out if not, I have a handheld gmrs we can use and just relay if we get really spread out due to dust.
Nice thing is there isn't a ton of turns (and we expect everyone to have the track download in whatever navigation device they choose) so coms are mostly for calling it hazards, incoming vehicles, and general chat.

No, I didn't spring for the MARS mod, though it sounds like it would be worth it. I have a HT GMRS unit as well.

I sent my radio to Ham Outlet Sacramento and it was $35 to do it

Hello friends,

Unfortunately Jim, Molly and I won’t be able to make this trip. The Big Red Burb blew its transmission last month. Instead of fixing it we’ve decided to upgrade engine and transmission to a mid 2000s LS engine/trans combo. This is taking a few months to build but will be ready for next year for sure. Can’t wait to attend many events in 2025.

I am sending out a message to the attendees about a Plan B option if the Magruder Corridor is still closed in 3 weeks due to fires.
