I know Recreation.gov can pull up campgrounds for campsites in a particular area and filtered by availability, but where can I search for Forest Service campgrounds that are first come - first serve? The Recreation.gov site doesn't seem to include these? I don't see a searchable map on the US Forest Service website. I'm probably just doing something wrong.

there is a few different apps you can use to find camp sites like =
freecampsites.net web site , ioverlander app , the dyrt pro app etc.... ihunter help find gov. land etc

I meant to say the Recreation.gov website includes them, they just don't come up when I do a search by availability dates. They are first come first serve so are technically available but their search tool doesn't treat them as available.

You need to ask that question on the Recreation.gov help section of that app.

The best way I have found is to look at the specific Nat Forest and then the campgrounds listed individually. I’d love to see a larger list. It’s frustrating. The interactive maps are OK, and do show the CGs, but I prefer the lists to the hunt and click method, but that’s just me. I haven’t found the various camping apps to be that helpful or worth the money and I’ve tried many.
