Too much time on my hands and unwilling to shell out $150 for a Molle panel...here's a first shot at my birch plywood version...the hose is for my solar shower (last week's project)

Thx. I used the bolt holes for the cargo cover on the bottom and the rear hole of the handle on top. No drilling. The small holes are for Quick Fist accessories...clamps that mount on 1/4 and 3/8 inch bolts...haven’t tried any yet

Not too long. I penciled in a grid, drilled starter holes with a 1/8 bit and then used a 1 inch bit. I tore up the back of the plywood pretty good and would make sure to drill into another piece of wood next time.Wow. looks good. I like the idea to make it from wood! Very nice!

Birch is nice looking stuff, I used it on the interior of my teardrop. What thickness did you use? The angle makes it look more than 1/8”.
I did something like that, but with 1/4in ABS. I drew it up and then had them cut out on a Water Jet. I have offered to do this for other people, but so far nobody has had any interest.

Have you weighed this setup? I have a CNC machine and might try this in ABS, like someone esle said. Buying a panel like this is like 180-200 from what Ive seen.

No, I have not weighed it, but it is ABS plastic, so both panels under 1 pound. What you put in the bags is going to be way more of an issue than the panels that hold them.
Even if made out of Aluminum, panels like mine might be 1-1.5lbs each. 1/8th in Aluminum would be strong enough for anything you wanted to hang on it.
Even a big SUV with large windows and either ABS or Aluminum, I would think less than 5lbs each MAX. The hole remove most of the weight.

I've seen ones for tacomas that go across the front of the bed and hold hi,lift and other accessories. More mounting bolts or screws will = more capacity and no sagging.
