This is exactly what I'm looking to do once I get my setup completed. The only difference is I want to lift the bed rack with the tent attached to it and store the entire thing when I'm not using it.

How do you operate yours?

I had a similar setup but wasn't too comfortable with it so I got a cheap chain hoist from HF. Now I don't worry about dropping it on my head. I don't really take it off much any more though.
