APRS- Overland Bound

Just curious how many (if anyone) puts something in their APRS beacon noting they are an overland bound member? I added it to mine in case I’m driving and someone within range from here see it they can call reach out.

My current beacon lists my Name-Overland Bound-Frequency-shift

@brien mentioned in a recent video he did on the Kenwood TM-D710G that there was a push some years ago to get OB members to put Overland Bound in their packets but that it never really took off.
Will be interesting to see the general consensus now.

Never thought about doing that. Now that I have, I don't really see the benefit.

Well, we just got back home from a 1768 mile trip to the San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado. on the 146.460 frequency we heard very, very little chatter. so I would say that if your radio says that you monitor 146.460 all of the OB members will know that you are from here. My info even says "Silver JK Todd " on it.

I haven’t thought about putting OB into my APRS packet Information. Sounds like a cool idea....

I just thought that it would be interesting to see other people on a highway if I was overlanding. You could say “hi”. A simple QSO with someone that has something in common.

I think it’s a good idea for an APRS Junky and OB member like myself. Most other hams wouldn’t know what “OB” was however. I use APRS almost everyday and I look at aprsdirect.com all the time as well. It would be cool to see another member out there.

I have this video on an APRS zone in my radio, from everything I read and talked to folks on APRS this is the norm
