Getting Out During Quarantine

Usually at this time my wife and I are in full Spring mode, hitting up weeklong trips to nearby states VT, NH, and sometimes RI. Even a trip across state to western Massachusetts to hike Mt. Greylock isn't doable during these times.

Instead, I have found several short trails, logging roads, and back roads within a 10 mile radius of my rural home. Although long distance travel isn't happening in finding plenty of trails and new fishing spots nearby, which is a positive I'm these trying times. I definitely feel grateful for where I live.

How is everyone scratching their adventure itch, if at all?

As weather get better here on the Maine coast, I might see if I can get out fishing and maybe overnight if anywhere is open.

For now, pretty much stuck in the 'hood, I'm sorting, cleaning, and organizing gear (as well as other stuff around the homestead), and making plans to revamp the inside of my van with new storage, side wall cabinets, and built-in potty. Making some simple wheel well storage aids for my trailer, too.

I plan to take one of my heavy duty sewing machines on my long trips adventuring, so am experimenting with projects now, too, so I'll be better at making adventure gear while on the road. Awning walls, log carriers, canvas tote bags, canoe skirt, etc. I think it will run from my trailer and solar power just fine.

Right now I'm making face masks for frontline healthcare workers, public servants, food prep folk, and elderly on fixed income on a Dozen for Dozen basis. For every mask I sell (available in singles, packs of 3, 6, and 12), I make one to donate (in packs of a dozen) through getusppe.org and maskmatch.com.
