Has anyone done this trail (Coyote Flats) in the Eastern Sierras? Attempted it last weekend and enjoyed it but one person in our caravan had suspension trouble so we all turned back together. Curious to hear what the end is like.
Did camp one night in Alabama Hills finally. Pass by it often going up to Mammoth. It's beautiful!!!! IMG_20190721_180314_461.jpeg20190720_065943.jpeg

I was there last weekend too, with the Inland Empire group. It’s worth going back to see. We just stayed on the main trail, and camped at the end, then hiked up to a few of the lakes. It was amazing! There are more pictures on the Inland Empire meeting thread much better than mine.11D6A599-BF3F-4C6F-B10F-320DB5877A65.jpeg65275244-FD93-4B66-AADE-D08A4CE4A6A8.jpegF93C4CB3-3803-48A7-917D-B40794D7D45A.jpeg1FFE3B96-66B1-4754-B41D-CBF7C4BE3EEF.jpeg656968E5-7B9B-4700-B7DA-337A8636CA7A.jpeg

I love the Sierra's and Hwy 395. I'm from Los Angeles, have backpacked and drove up and down 395. Of course after I move to North Carolina I learn about Overlanding. I would love to come back to the Sierra's one day, but its quite a haul from the other side of the country.

Would you consider the trail from Bishop to Funnel Lake easy? I drive a stock 4wd F150 and would love to try Coyote Flats. Thanks.

Getting to funnel lake is tough, but it's one of the side-trails off coyote flats, so you don't need to drive there to get to the flats. Your main challenge is going to be the switchbacks going up from Bishop since they're fairly tight in places - I'm sure you'll be fine in an F150 though (as long as you're pretty comfortable driving it).

That's beautiful, I just got back from Laurel Lake trail out that way. I'll have to go back and check out that location
