What is your go to gear that you always carry for vehicle breakdown repairs on a trip?

Also, does anyone use a specific app for incline gauging? Yea Im a newbie :)

Basic tools(wrenches and sockets, some pliers), knife, maybe something to patch radiator hoses. Or spare hoses and belts. Its a bit different for certain vehicles since some have known failure points, others just have random things go wrong. Good wheels chocks, a working Jack. A decent hammer!
 
I have one of those plastic cases with wrenches and sockets. Then I carry a tool bag with pliers, monkey wrenches, screwdrivers, zip ties, JB weld etc. I also carry extra fluids.

I have a 08 Tacoma so pretty reliable truck, and I have a basic tool kit in the truck as well. Great ideas above, thanks

Like the above posts, I pack the obvious (tool kit, fluids).
I also have a mini air compressor that was like $25 (I'm also just starting out and cant afford major items quite yet).
Tow straps, jack, flares/glow sticks, flashlights. Don't forget a first aid kit!
I also would like to know what people use for an incline gauge. :smilecat:
 
Tackle boxes and or ammo cans filled with tools and extra parts and fasteners. Sockets, wrenches and vise-grips of various sizes are what I most use. Also if you have an older rig make sure you pack WD-40 and PB Blaster. We also have a full EMT kit and vital fluids on board.

If you have an iPhone, open the Compass app and swipe left. There's a level for horizontal angles (lay phone on the edge) and if you lay it on its back, you get two circles that overlap if it's level (like a venn diagram).

I have, but it wasn't inside the truck. I was with the Deadman Offroad guys in Pismo getting familiar with their product and one of our trucks was getting winched up a dune. During the stuck assessment I guessed the angle was 30*. We stuck the phone on the slider and it read 29*. Pretty good eye! Generally speaking though, I don't use them.

I also keep an Overland checklist (things to take on a trip) on my iphone, and a 2nd list of gear - things I want/need to buy for my T4R and camping. Looks like there are a few more things I need to add to my lists.

My Overland list includes:
Food - snacks/meals and water
and where items are located - Vehicle drawer system vs Storage containers

I really like how you mentioned where they are located on your list. The big stuff usually has a dedicated spot but little stuff or stuff that doesnt always travel with us sometimes gets stashed where ever. Not to mention my wife usually has no idea where I stashed things. Its a good idea for everyone to know where its at.
