Busy work schedules keep my better half (Jessica) and I pretty busy. But as the little one gets older, we have decided that taking time for us and getting away from the daily hustle and bustle is what we want and the annual family camping trip just isn't cutting it. Our current rig is a 2014 stock Toyota Tacoma and is my daily driver. It is 2WD but it is all we have access to at the time. We aren't quite sure which direction to go in, so any and all advice would be welcome. We have seen how help full and just outright amazing this community is and we are excited to join!
Hi Mike and welcome to OB! Nice looking Tacoma! Safe travels and enjoy those open roads!

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Rig: 1994 FZJ80
Experience: It's just car camping right? :sunglasses: I just recently sold my FJ60 to fund my 80 series build and begin a new overlanding experience.

Hi Everyone!

Name’s Cameron, live in Black Mountain, NC just east of Asheville. Drive 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trail Hawk. Just slapped some BFG T/A KO2s on it. RTT hopefully next week. Look forwards to this experiencing and combine my favorite things, camping, gear and rigs!

Hello Cameron form Southern California and welcome to OB! Nice rig...catch ya out on the trails some day brother!

Hello OB. We are new to your group and just wanted fill y'all in.

View attachment 36553

Here is our rig. Just a standard Rubicon. Winch, bumpers, rack, cb. The roof rack changes depending on what and where were headed.

Home base is in S.E. Louisiana. Furthest west we've been is Hoover Dam. Furthest north was 4 corners. Furthest east was Daytona Beach and furthest south was Key West.

We try to avoid interstates and run back roads, dirt trails, gravel roads. We camp as much as possible on our routes.

We belive the destination is not always the final objective but the journey is where family memories are made.

Everyone is invited to contact us. And if ever passing through Louisiana and need a wooded camp site to overnight in we're here.

Thanks
Jason, Laura, Will and Maddie
Hello Rubicajon from Southern California and welcome to OB! Nice rig and good to see that you get the family involved. See ya out on the trails someday brother!

Hello forums!

New Member here.

Location: St. Louis, MO
Current Rig: 2004 Jeep Liberty Limited (bone stock)
Experience: None

Wife and I are just now researching the Overlanding experience, as it appeals to both of us. We've been researching and are planning on acquiring a Tacoma or 4Runner. The liberty is a great vehicle, but for carrying my wife, daughter, and possibly grand kids, along with gear, it just falls short in the space available category. Should also mention that I am 6'2", so the liberty is also not that comfortable for me on long trips. The longer term plan is to add a trailer (patriot, xventure, terra drop) to the mix also.
Hello dorrson from Southern California and welcome to OB! I have seen some sick Jeep Liberty rigs but yes being 6'2" would be a tight squeeze. Catch ya out on the trails someday brother.

Thanks NightCrawler. We should be in SoCal in 2019 for our climb of Mt. Whitney. Can we contact you about the local trails in your area when we get closer to our date?

Thanks again

Hello hello!

My family and I have always been lovers of the outdoors. I've got a fair amount of experience with overland and general off road travels. My last rig was built more for obstacles, but as the needs of the family changed, so has the vehicle of choice. We are currently transitioning from a 2011 fully armored Tacoma, to a 93 land cruiser.

Welcome Mike. Spending time enjoying each other and the outdoors make life better 2wd or not.

Hello,
My name is Dustin and I'm from Flagstaff, AZ. I've got a 2016 Silverado and my wife has a 2017 4runner that will probably become our primary overlanding rig once the new car smell wears off. Definitely still on the novice side but the wife and I are looking to get more into it.

Yes...a few friends just made that climb...if I don't have the answers I know I can put you in contact with someone who does.
