Zion National Park backcountry permit

  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. A few days after this maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Hey everyone I'm a new member here and I have a question hopefully someone can answer. I'm planning my first backcountry camping trip to Zion National Park in June if I purchase the America the beautiful park pass does that cover the permit I need for Zion or is there a separate permit I need? Thanks in advance.

You'll need a separate permit for back country. At least I did in 2011. They want to track you separately in case something happens. Also check their runoff. If they have heavy runoff they will close parts of the park due to the Virgin River being too high. Give them a call around May to check and then again about a week prior to your trip.
