Has anyone had wild hog encounters? We are noticing more and more damage from wild hogs everywhere we go. It’s amazing the damage can do. The last 3 times we were hiking we had encounters. First ,I was going down a path solo, the trail was all torn up. I heard a loud low grunt and about 30 feet away a huge hog standing directly in front of me. This wasn’t a little piggy this thing outweighed me big time. I looked at him ...he looked at me... grunted and walked into the brush. His tusks were at least 3-4 inches long. Scared the sh!t out of me. Didn’t say anything to the Wife about this one. About 3 weeks ago we were hiking a trail , we were talking about something then I thought I heard a grunt. We stopped and then we both heard it. She wasn’t a happy camper and a brisk walk back to the truck. Yesterday while hiking around Lake George, Fl. The trails were all torn up. While in the parking lot a young lady dressed in camo approached us as said a pack of hogs were working their way up the shoreline and be on guard. We chatted for a few minutes she was telling me she put 3 rounds from a 270 before she dropped one. She noticed our bear mace and my sidearm (large cal.) and sort of chuckled, I smiled and agreed with a nod stating I wasn’t going to go down with out a hell of a fight.
Does anyone know if bear mace will work on hogs? What do you do when you have a encounter, stand your ground? Run? Climb a tree? Is it legal to shoot one if it is attacking or your threatened? 23CFF1F0-C400-420B-B4FC-8E0177F96D7E.jpeg
