Hi, so I have been driving around in my 08 Hilux now for a few months (daily driver) and on my mind are the 12 year old tyres keeping me attached to the tarmac. They are 255/70/15 and I really want/need to replace them for obvious reasons. I have spoken to my tyre shop today and they said the 15" would be a problem as there is not a lot of choice in that size and if I am going to be heading off the beaten track and to give me a better selection I should think about going up to 16" wheels. Do you think this would be a good move? Is there anything I should be aware of if I go up a wheel size? Alloy or steel? I know I don't need M/T and I am looking at getting A/T my preference being the GFB A/T but I am completely new to all this and any advice from the community would really help me. Thanks

Honestly 15s are just as common as 16s. I would bet those two are about the most common wheel sizes for light duty stuff the world over.
