WABDR in October?

Hello! Has anyone ran sections of the WABDR in October? Putting a trip together, and mid October seems to be the only availability, so interested to see if that will be too close to winter conditions, or if others have been fine historically.

Could be sketchy depending on the year. Both sections have you hitting upwards of 6k.
Agreed. I ended up switching to mid September instead. It seems to be on the limit of what folks normally do. This may be in our favor due to the fires (at least I hope).

We try to run the northern sections as late into the year as we can. in mid October I would guess we have been about 50/50 from year to year that you will be able to make it all the way a given section. Typically hunters are up travelling the FS roads during that time so they tend to stay somewhat accessible if the snow hits. Keep in mind it gets dark really early that time of year. The Beehive washout and some of the switchbacks on section 3 can be interesting if snow/ice covered. That being said we have had some great winter camps on the WABDR over the years.
