March 2025–
I have been working with Yozzy (Yo zee) Overland in Post Falls ID. It’s a new company founded by the same guy who started CVT, FSR, Zamps Solar, Expion360 Lithium. We have designed a new kitchen that is light years ahead of what we used to produce. Should be launching in April 2025 and we will be taking pre-orders soon. The price point is on par with what I sold them for yet it is so much more.

I’m feeling pretty humbled that Michael did a video on my drawer! :)

Back in June of 2018 I built a 1/2” ply Overland drawer that Michael highlighted on a walk around of my truck. It works amazing! I love everything about it, how easy it is to set up and break camp, get to vital items, and the streamlined storage. Everything about it is great except the weight. Having an outside box and then an internal drawer proved to weigh A LOT, which isn’t bad for a truck but when I add my rack and RTT I’m looking for a lighter option, though it will cost more. My plan is use 80/20 to redesign my drawer, add more utility, and cut the weigh by at least a third. The drawer is 56” long, 20” wide, and 17” high to fit under my Diamondback cover.

New sink burner combo purchased on eBay from England. These things are everywhere in Europe but not here?

To make the plan more clear, the whole drawer slides out on 56 inch sliders. Then the upper section slides out to reveal the cooktop

Just received my Dometic 9722 that I bought off eBay from England. Looks really nice! Waiting on my 80/20 order to arrive. Honestly I can’t believe how fast it came, less than a week to get to California.

This unit comes with a Comet faucet that turns on the pump when you lift the handle for the water

I have been crazy busy with work and won’t have time to finish this drawer for my trip this week on The Mojave Road. But I am excited to get this build done hopefully next week. All of my 80/20 came in and it’s light and machined really well. The rounded edges are nice and though expensive the rounded Tri-corners look awesome

I found it on eBay and it was about $350-425 depending on the exchange rate. There is one dealer in the US but they want like $700 I think.

There’s been a pause in my build as I’m waiting on some items being shipped from T Nutz. I originally bit the bullet and purchased round Tri-corners from 80/20 at about $20 per corner. Ouch. Then I recently found the SAME item at half the price from T Nutz. Sooooo I’m swapping them out as my build has like 16 corners. Dang.

Adding electrical to the drawer with 3 illuminated switches housed in this project box. 1st switch will power the whole drawer including the pump to be actuated by the faucet, 2nd switch for interior drawer LED’s, and the 3rd switch to illuminate the cooking/sink surface at night. Cooking in the dark is so middle-ages


As my Dometic 9722 came from England I spent $11 on a new Mr Heater regulator to make sure the propane flows at 11 WC of pressure. I decided to use 1lb propane bottles as I normally cook for 2-3 people and I don’t need a 20lb tank for that, plus with my set up it would be hard to find space. Even with the 5&11lb bottles I can more easily carry two 1 pounders and be good for a lot of cooking.

I finally got some more done on this project and some of the hard parts as I have rounded sections meeting square bars. I painted one panel in gray and decided it doesn’t pop enough, if I’m going to spend all this time and money it’s gotta look good to me :)

The frame is coming together. I did 1/4” HDPE panels for the bottom for strength, but as they are heavy I’m doing 1/4” light ply on the sides to save weight.



This cut took awhile to make the initial pass then I used a dremel to shave it more precisely, I’ll clean and polish the aluminum when it’s done


80/20 doesn’t have all the connectors I need for the type of joining I am doing for this build, so I’ve had to come up with some backyard solutions.

Lengthwise connectors, I used T slots nuts that are tightened through access holes


For this build I am using rounded Tri-connectors, hidden corner brackets, T nuts through access holes, and more notching


Here is the drawer set up in it’s closed position, nothing is attacted just placed in position


Slightly extended position, but my work table is bowing so it doesnt line up right

Here I thought, "Man I would never be able to draw up something like this", all my life I thought that, then you inadvertently let the genius drawers secret out, yep mensa will surely put you in time out for this one, you left you super brain booster delivery system in one of your pictures, see I thought I wasn't good enough or had a defect (like the wife says, I aint right), but now I can throw that special helmet away, skip the small bus, I am free! I am just like you!! All I need is OREO Cookies!! The secret is out!

Off to the store.......


Seriously, I really liked the old system you had this new one looks to be above and beyond great! I am impressed.....

I got more work done today but it was a little slow because I am cutting panels to fit, then painting and waiting for them to dry. I have my blueprints but figuring out as I go along how to assemble it in proper order, kind of reminds me of an IKEA dresser.

I changed to the blue but not sure if I’m gonna stick with it, the panels are easy enough to pull out and repaint if need be.
