So it begins!

  • Guest, UPDATE We went through the site migration runbook and completed all steps. We will need to complete the migration next week, but will leave the forums up for the weekend. A few days after maintenance, a major upgrade revision to the forum site will occur.

Finally after 5 years the Jeep is in the shop and tear down has begun. Starting with pulling the motor, then rewire the car with a painless wire kit. Then with luck we can fire it and begin the rest of the restoration!E7D73BCD-606B-48DB-9736-216FCA97B3DC.jpg

My plan is to keep it mostly stock. It was stored in the desert for five years, so the rats ate all the wires in the engine compartment. So no computer, electric carburetor, or distributor. The engine will have to be mechanical. So I’m going for simple and reliable. We would like to take it North when it’s done. We have family in Alaska, so that is the initial goal, after that I’ll tweak it a little more for the southern routes. More sand and rocks.
