SCAR

Has anyone done the SCAR (South Carolina Adventure Route)? I’m thinking of driving it, or parts of it, with family and friends and just looking on some input.

I have run the entire thing. It's a fun drive. Down near the coast, you can expect a lot of mud and gravel. The midlands are sand and clay and the mountains are mostly gravel. There are some areas where the mud gets deep so be careful driving into some of the water holes. The red clay is slick as snot as well.

I would suggest taking some of the side roads in in the Francis Marion. There are some nice places on the Santee River that are worth visiting.
