Similar to rockhounding, but smaller! I've been collecting sand from around the world, not just on overlanding trips, but also during my time in the Navy and on family vacations and work related travel as well. Let's see some of your favorite sand photos! Here are a few of mine:

Ash Meadow, CA, green zeolite.

Oak Springs, NV, quartz sand and trilobites!

Mills Orchard, NM, quartz sand with iron oxide coating.

Kingman Wash, AZ, lithic sand.

Deb usually brings back some sand from trips we take. Black sand from Hawaii, Florida, Bermuda, and probably others.

Excellent, glad there's at least one other sand collector here! I've got a website for my sand collection: www.maryhemmerlyhecker.org and then there's also the International Sand Collector's Society: https://sandcollectors.org/

My favorite sands are the heavy mineral sands, garnet, olivine, magnetite, etc. I prefer the colors over just plain white quartz sand.

I have a small collection, some from Omaha Beach where my Uncle cleared obstacles, some from Iwo Jima same Uncle still clearing obstacles and mine, some from the Mekong Delta and some much further upstream just south of Mengsong.
