What a productive event! 52 dedicated OB members, plus MDLT volunteers, got together to preserve history, help the park grow, and preserve Joshua Tree seeds for post-fire restoration.

In order of importance;
  1. Project was to complete the Kessler Barn. DONE
  2. Project was to finish picking up items of non-historic value at the Ronnie Crowell Ranch. DONE
  3. Project was to collect Joshua Tree seeds so that the Preserve can maintain the genetics of the plants being grown which will help replace the 4.3 million trees burned during the Cima Dome fire. DONE
  4. And a bonus project to repair a rock wall at Fort Paiute. DONE
What's next?
For the Mojave, we plan on going back at the end of March or early April. I am working with NPS to get some projects that deal with trail repair or restoration. Plus, we will have a couple of MDLT projects in the Lanfair Valley.
MDLT has a 160 acre ranch property in the Lanfair Valley that we will be able to use as base camp. There is a covered structure that we can use for a potluck on Saturday night. The agreement I have reached with them is that Overland Bound members can use this property at other times on a reservation basis. More to come on this.

Death Valley - still in contact with the Park but to this date no projects have been secured. One that we are talking about is a repair to the very bottom of Lippincott Road. More to come regarding this..
