Hello everyone. Looking to plan a trip out to Painted Hills OR. Has anybody every been out there and have any recommendations on camp spots?

If you head north from Mitchell there are some BLM camps on the John Day. Depending on when you go there might be some bass fishing opportunities.... I normally head east from Mitchell and camp on a private ranch owned by a friend. 35,000 Acres allows for options. If you head farther east there are some nice spots up in the Strawberry Mountains. Google will find you most of the BLM camps... note that fires in the dry years closed some areas. Check with the BLM offices in Prineville...
