Looks great!

One question - does the floorpan provide enough rigidity, or is the new structure, coupled with the floorpan, rigid enough?

Our super beetle... plans for an overlander
Some advice:
1) Given it's a superbeetle either remove the McPherson Strut front end and go back to the old style or weld up better structural connection points for the top end. The body mounted struts were prone to failure with just the VW's weight so going camper they will be under more stress.
2) It looks like they are swapping out the windshield, If you choose to keep the VW window frame, Make sure you have access over the windshield so you can press down on the windshield for when you need to change it out. the 73+ SB's curved windshield required more down force to seat than the std bugs and 71-72 flat windsheilds.
3) Not sure what you have planned for power but look into a late 70's Type 4 2L bus. as the starting point. IIRC it should bolt up to that SB Tranny. Better yet would be to grab a late 70's bus 2l and tranny for the lower gears.
