Pros and cons??

Looking at fitting an on board water tank in the Defender for extended trips - probably under the rear seats - will keep the weight low and between the axles.

What have others done?
What about cleaning internally from time to time? Sterilisation/purification tablets etc... ??

I have thought about this issue and have ordered a Road Shower 4 that I plan on mounting on my CDN M101 trailer. This will provide me with 7 gallons of pressurized, solar heated water.

Reviving this thread because I started one with a similar subject with a little more response and options if you are still looking

I havnt gotten around to installing one in my rig yet but as for cleaning I will just do what I do at work with our potable water tanks. Put a little bit of bleach in there with the tank half full or so and go for a bumpy ride. Come back, rinse out well and done.

And don't forget always filter when filling the tank. It's a must

@Boort Yes, I have been looking at them, I already have quite a bit of Frontrunner kit and rate it very highly.
A while ago, someone posted a picture of a 50 litre tank (on a UK Facebook LR page) that just about fitted in the rear seat box of a LR130, which makes sense for location - keeps the weight low and central between the axles ....... but can I find it again :disappointed:

@nickburt

I don't know the LR130, but These guys mention one of the FrontRunners for that usage:

Many thanks Boort, they're the ones I have looked at Front Runner tanks, but I'd like to make use of space under the rear seats rather than space in the load area behind the seats.. I need to have another measure up and work out if one of the FR tanks will fit in.
Ignore the bench seat - that's long gone - replaced with a pair of front seats out of a big old 70s luxury Ford - I sould get some up to date photos of the interior - this was taken when I first got the truck and started pulling it to bits.
