I am located in Boone, NC and want to get away for a weekend from college life. Does anybody have any recommendations for primitive camping along a creek or river that offers fly fishing?

Try the Wilson creek area. Some of the nicest hiking areas in the southeast. I have spent hundreds of nights in this area, one of my favorite places on earth.
If you are willing to hike a few hours, native fish can be found. Best fishing you will ever find.
Go by the mast store for a map, it is a big enough area that you could get lost without.

South Toe River area, around Mt. Mitchell down into Curtis Creek , etc. the upper headwaters of the South Toe provide some great fly fishing and campsites!

Are there any cool spots to camp out the 4runner?
