Going to come in here and state that I have been using Backcountry Navigator and have enjoyed it. I have not gone on many trips and cannot compare it to the GAIA/ Bluetooth GPS setup that some of you run. That seems like a pretty solid setup.

I've also used Avenza Maps and like the simplicity of it. It doesn't accept every PDF map, but those that have coordinates, it will import and then overlay your position on it.

I have been using Gaia for a couple of years now and love. Some in my group use back country navigator but Gaia works for me and I see no need to switch.
