So I've been combing through pages trying to get ideas on how to mount a RAM X mount for my Ipad mini 4 for Navigation and Iphone XS Max in my '15 Outback. Was hoping to find a good solution without spending upwards of a couple hundred dollars and drilling a bunch of holes in my interior. Came across a couple of products that I had some questions on.

1. - Has anyone ever used the Pro Clip mounts and if so are the relatively sturdy?
2. - Has anyone ever fabbed up something custom for their rig that would be similar to the Expedition Essentials system? I so wish they made something for an Outback haha! Envious of all the gear available for the Tacos!!!

Links for both are here -

Thanks!

You could check if panavise has one for the outback. I’m pretty sure they do. It’s not the same. But it seems similar. I personally do not have the panavise, but I’ve seen them used.

Don't know if this would work for you but i have a Macally cup holder mount in my truck that supports a Nexus 7. Fit's in cup holder, adjustable, removable in seconds.

I used the proclip one shown in the bottom of the picture of the page on that link. It worried me putting it in that is was going to separate the plastic based on how it hooked in but it didn't. It was sturdy and I had no issues. I just purchase a new 3.6R and will be looking for the one I had prior. Hopefully i can find where i put it when i took it off! Never found a ton of great options for an Outback.

I’d advise against anything that goes in front of the vents for a couple reasons. The first being obvious and the second being that the device will be baked by heat in the winter and chilled (not always a bad thing) in the winter which could potentially impact battery performance. Not to mention I question the stability off road.

I use a RAM X-Grip and a suction cup mount for my phone. Location is lower left of the windshield which doesn’t really block anything in Pa due to our inspection stickers.

For those of you who haven’t seen it, this is my custom final solution to running my iPad/inreach setup in my 5th gen Outback.
