  • Guest, we will be conducting site maintenance August 4th and some downtime is expected. At this time Rally Point and the Member Map will also become an app-only feature for long-term security and stability. I'm brand new to overlanding and pretty new to Colorado (living in Colorado Springs). I'm looking for suggestions on where to go this weekend with my son. Hoping to be able to camp and fly fish a stream or river. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Actually looks like Dowdy Lake has exactly what I'm looking for. If anyone has information on dispersed camping there, please let me know.

The Red Feather Lakes are a really nice area. While I wasn’t able to find a dispersed camp site, we were able to snag a tucked away tent site at West Lake Campground. I need to find a good set of topo maps for the area, I heard there was more dispersed camping off the Forest Service road that leads to one of the canyons nearby.

Most importantly, I was able to teach my 12-year old son how to fly fish.
