US Southwest Info Request for Alabama Hills

We are in the Reno NV area and are planning a couple of days at AH/ Lone Pine area, the second week of October. We are set up with a tent trailer and plan to come in our Subaru Forester (no lift/street tires). I know there are a couple of CG's there as well as free BLM camping. Looking for info on short hikes to cool places, secluded camping that I can get a tiny little trailer level on, and for star gazing.
