Hang your utensils from your Skottle!

I just finished a neat little project! I wanted a place to hang utensils on my skottle so I didn't have to find a place to put stuff down at. I thought about bolting some hooks around the edge but I wanted the top to stay smooth. Then I thought about welding on some hooks but I thought that might hold the handles up where the heat from the burner would melt plastic and make metal too hot to touch. Here is what I came up with!

It's about 2 feet of chain, maybe an inch more, 3 closable chain links with the screw gap, and 3 latches of your choice, I used the kind that splits on the end rather than the dog-leash style. Then attach S-hooks by squeezing one end closed on the chain where it's convenient for your tools to hang. For the lid hook I put a small hook on the end of one of the clips and twisted the hook 90 degrees sideways so the lid doesn't flop around the other way and cover the tools.

Great idea! My wife is going to be so happy. I was about to take mine down to a local welder to have small hooks welded onto the bottom. I never thought about the hooks getting hot and melting utensil handles. It’s been a pep-peeve of ours having to set up another small surface to place the lid and utensils. Especially when the skottle lid comes with its own built in hook!
