the wife and i decided to check out alabama this coming weekend and will head to Bankhead and then over toward Fort Payne.
anyone have any good suggestions on things to see?

Little River Canyon (I suppose if you are going to Ft. Payne that is where you are headed). Walls of Jerico is supposed to be nice but a rather committing hike.
Russel Cave National Monument is cool and easy. If you make it as far as Russel Cave, head a little farther north to S. Pittsburgh. Lodge has their factory and outlet there and you can get seconds of all kinds of stuff for 50+% off retail. Desoto falls (been kinda dry so might not be ultra impressive).
That's all I can think of at the moment.
