East TN/ West NC routes

I am currently in the process of planning a trip for Labor day weekend for a 3 night trip in East Tennessee and West NC. I plan on spending the first night in the Chattanooga, TN area and then making my way into NC for the next two nights. I am looking for recommended campsites in that are on NF roads and dispersed camping sites. Any recommendation are highly appreciated.

Yellow gap rd in Pigsah national forest. I believe fs1260. I drove it the other week to check it. Can not to get back and camp and explore.
