Discovering History: Discovering a Path

west texas is full of it...history, that is

years back we went to Big Bend and took 90 from Del Rio to Marathon. Lots of ghost towns along the way and numerous historical markers talking about how the railway went thru there in the early 1900s and how the towns were formed to support the railway. Langtry is a little town that has the historical court house of Judge Roy Bean...very interesting to see. We happened by it just driving thru. When I was in high school, we drove thru that area with my step-dad and we ended up pulling off the road and hiking down into a canyon right off the highway and ended up finding a cave with old drawings in it from the Seminole indians. LOTS of really cool stuff all over if you just take the time to stop and look.

I grew up in San Angelo and there are lots of markers and historical sites all around. lots of little towns that have really cool court houses and lots of history. my step-dad was a history teacher and whenever we went on trips, he always stopped at historical markers and things like that and its surprising just how much went on in places that are now deserted and forgotten...
