The trip was about finding coal somewhere around the coalmont area we came upon the coalmont coal mine but could not find any coal around the area.. Was fun to explore the area lots of backroads to checkout.

I brought a lump of coal home when we were out that way years ago poking around. The history of Granite City, the Blakeburn area, and the mine disaster is very interesting. Will have to get back up there at some point.
