Camper shell installation

Hey guys,

Just bought a 1st gen tacoma, and I have a question regarding camper shells. The sides of the truck bed don't have the black plastic bed liner like most other tacomas do, so will I need to add some kind of plastic or rubber part myself? If so, what should I use?

I attached the file with a picture below. Thanks!

Usually you apply a foam tape (from Home Depot) and that will last until you remove the top. A spray-on bed liner would be the best alternative to the plastic bed liner especially if you live in the rust belt..

Thanks for the response! Any idea how wide the foam tape should be? Is there a particular brand, is it like the weather tape?

Thanks.

Depends on your topper. The topper on my 97 has a rubber gasket that seals out dust and water. Check your topper to see what options you have.

Hey,

I think most of them do have the rubber part, but I'm just worried because the bolts are sticking out about a half inch from the side of my bed, so that rubber gasket may not be enough.

Just a thought.
