BATTERY HELP
my group 31 batt does not last. Three or four days sitting kills battery to below 9 volts. Time for new.

I am looking at LiFiP04 battery

100 or 120ah form either battle born batteries (USA) or Kings (AUS). Does anyone have a Lith Batt as there AUX batt AND KEEP IT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT?

Need advice Many say not to go above 130 degrees with batt - or the BMS kicks in.

My red arc dc/dc is under hood too and does great. They said 170 max heat. But so far works great.

Will also take any advice on the battery itself if you think a particular batt is better. Especially for heat

This is my daily driver too BTW - 2022 Toy 4Runner.

@Wanderlost did a video a while back about lithium batteries underhood. The bottom line is that’s it’s very bad juju.

Additionally, I don’t believe lithium is intended as a starting battery.

a lot of the lithium battery chargers wont allow charging at around 120 degrees and long exposure to heat will shorten the life.
i used to not hear of lithium for starting because they werent designed for the quick dump of amps it takes to spin a starter...BUT there are dual purpose lithium batteries on the market now, i guess they can be used for starting. id do more research to make sure though...

Dakota Lithium offers a starting battery… it’s expensive… and still not recommend for modern under hood applications.

Late to the party, but was searching for an under-hood lithium battery available in Europe. In short, there are batteries that are specifically rated for under-hood use available in Australia. So they are available, but I’ve not been able to find them anywhere else.
