We were returning to Boise, after a quick trip to Chandler, AZ. As we transitioned from Loop 101N onto SR60 - we began to notice small dust storms occurring, not impacting us. As we crossed over the Hoover Dam, exiting Arizona; I couldn't believe how dusty the air was descending into Las Vegas. We stopped in North Vegas to top off the tank, and got back onto I-15. We got hit by several gusts that pushed us into other lanes. Time for two hands on the wheel. We transitioned onto SR 93 N., It started to drizzle. By Lower Pahranagat Lake it was raining, which turned to sleet by Alamo. We transitioned onto State Route 318 - and it was snowing. At some point we were facing blizzard winds, and drifting snow. What should have been a couple hour drive at 70mph, turned into a 4+ hour ordeal at 30 to 50mph. White knuckled descent over Murry Summit into Ely, NV we arrived safe. The Tacoma had 3/4" to an Inch of ice on the grill. I've dub this photo "The Ice Queen" David

I think the general "open-ness" of the West adds to the impact. You can see it developing and changing and marching toward you with impending doom!

Glad you made it back.
