Traveler I

So just a few requirements: Economy, Ride comfort, Economy, Fully self sufficient, Totally reliable, All terrain access, sand, mud, rocks (small ones), tarmac, Enough water for two weeks in the Namib Desert. Did I mention ....economical to drive?
Mrs Bushdriver just was not happy with the wind blowing through her hair.......

So Alice of Overland was our choice.

2007 Forester XS
Started with a 8mm sump guard
50mm lift kit and HT Truck tires added another 25mm, so she's got 300mm clearance all the way through
reinforced the roof rails and added the roofrack, of welded mesh cable tray.
Removed back seats and packed in 75 litres / 18 US gal water, camp gear, fridge, camp kitchen, food, tent, fishing gear, recovery gear, extra spare wheel and off we went......
......a month in Namibia and Botswana.

8000 km (5000 miles) , 8,2 l/100km or 28,6 mi/gal US. About 50% Tarmac, 30% gravel roads, 20% sand dunes and desert sand tracks.
