I'm curious if anyone has found any entertaining reads for adventure travel. Perhaps the one that really got me thinking about overland travel was Alexa: The Life and Death of and Austin 7 Ruby. Basically, a guy buys an old Austin 7 and sets out to drive from the UK to South Africa. Why? For a girl, of course.

There is also a great collection of articles by Peter Egan called Leanings, which is more about motorcycle touring, but has some camping and searching for lost byways - if you define adventure as "what happens after something goes wrong" then I think this one qualifies.

What should I add to my winter reading list?

Try Torn Trousers from Gwynn Roberts White. About her and her husband Andrew StPierre White and their adventures in South Africa. You can get it at Amazon.

I will have to order that, I think I remember White mentioning it in one of his videos.

Correct, We bought it at Bad Kissingen and my girlfriend liked it much. They have a good sence of humor

Following... I wouldn't mind finding a few good travel type books that may peak my interest.
