Anybody else enjoy exploring abandon mines? I have started looking at and exploring more and more of them. I enjoy using them as destinations to build trips around. Usually good history, artifacts, etc. I am starting to get further off the beaten path with them and entering deeper into them. Anyone else?

I have been into mine exploration since my youth. I kind of stopped for many years, but recently decided to get back into it. I found out I had several great uncles that were miners in my area and the mines are still filed under our family name.

I just recently started looking at a similar way of putting a trip route together. I have never really been into this type of thing, but once I started reading some articles, mostly on the Desert USA web-site, I've gotten very intrigued with the possibilities. I was also amazed at the amount of locations right in my own back yard.

I’ve never researched it but I want to say there are some access issues at New Idira? Some one may chime in here.

Well.. Some quick searching proves my memory a bit foggy. I must be thinking of another place.

Looks kind cool. Fits this time of year well it would seem anyway.
